๐Ÿ›ก️ India’s S-400 Defence System: Combat-Ready by May 2025

 ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ Introduction

India’s air defence capabilities reached a significant milestone in May 2025 with the full-scale operational deployment of the S-400 Triumf missile system, known locally as Sudarshan Chakra. Designed to protect against aerial threats including aircraft, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, this system enhances India’s strategic deterrence in an increasingly volatile regional environment.

๐Ÿš€ What is the S-400?

The S-400 Triumf, developed by Russia, is one of the most advanced long-range air defence systems in the world. India signed a $5.43 billion deal in 2018 to acquire five squadrons. Each unit can track and destroy targets up to 400 km away and engage multiple threats simultaneously.

⚔️ Combat Performance: Operation Sindoor

On the night of May 7–8, 2025, the S-400 was deployed in Operation Sindoor following escalated tensions with Pakistan. Reports confirm:

  • ๐Ÿšจ Multiple aerial threats including drones and cruise missiles targeted Amritsar, Jammu, and Bhuj.

  • ✅ The S-400 successfully intercepted over 80% of these incoming threats.

  • ๐Ÿ“Š This marked the first operational combat deployment of the system in India.
